There are lots of video games that are released this 2012 and with the year on its second half, it is indeed time to look for some titles that left lots of gamers disappointed. These titles are not terrible games but they were disappointing for some reasons. Here are some of these titles so far.
Ghost Recon Future Solider
For gamers who did not mind the shift to action shooter video game, they thought that they will enjoy this game. Unfortunately, the title fell flat in every turn. The campaign is loosely stitched making it look like a set of prolonged and dull missions. The tactical holding off of enemies was used too often and too much.
Most of the times the action in Future Soldier seemed very tame and dragged out. The weapons have some little touches but they are done for some sort of gimmickry. This installment in the series felt hollow on the cooperative and single-player modes. The multiplayer mode contains poor maps that often resulted to grenade spam. It also contains some fun, but overall quality was lacking in the multiplayer. Future Soldier was not bad at all. The game simply feels disappointing and underwhelming.
Alan Wake: American Nightmare
Alan Wake has offered a narrative that is very engaging and great visuals that contributed greatly to the games atmosphere and compelling story. But the American Nightmare was a backward step rather than a continuation of what you felt from its predecessor.
The nature of Groundhog Day’s story is the biggest disappointment when it comes to the American Nightmare as you have to repeat three sections for three times in every section with only minimum variation. It seems that the developers of this video game don’t have any ideas, so what they did is a repetition in order to extend the length of the title. They also removed a vital element on the game that made Alan Wake very compelling, the feeling which you don’t know what is waiting for you ahead.
Prototype 2
What made this second installment of the series a disappointment is the lack of elements that are present in the original making it more enjoyable to play. Prototype II have missed all good things that are present in the original one, making it less compelling and less driven – it has no flair. As a gamer, you will notice that Prototype II doesn’t have balance which makes the original video game excellent at capitalizing on. In the first game, you will play the role of a powerful mutant but have the driving force and a heart, while in the succeeding game, you are heartless that only wants to kill. This will surely overshadow the fun experience that should be present in all video games. The violence in the game had become less desirable, uniform and unearned. It has exponentially bigger power-fantasy but the drive for discovering these powers was gone. Prototype II has lost balance and focus which makes it look like a plod. You will surely never return to the story.
