Borderlands II is the forthcoming shooter video game in the first person genre and contains elements that you can see in a role-playing game. This video game is the second installment in the series and is currently being developed by developer Gearbox Software for the different gaming platforms such as the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows.
In a recent interview with Steve Gibson, vice president of marketing for Gearbox Software, he revealed that a single playthrough of the campaign of Borderlands II will took gamers about 58 hours. Take note that it is for a single character only. Any type of shooter video games with running time is very impressive and especially that it is just for a single character out of the five different classes of characters in the video game.
During the interview, Steve has proudly revealed that they want players to think about the video game as a hobby and that the entire playthrough for a single character is about 58 hours for the campaign. He continued that they look at the video game as a hobby with the depth that a lot of people can get from playing the game. Not yet counting the Badass Points technology and how it will affect each character that gamers do, people will surely be involved in the video game deeply. Steve added that they want people to feel that the video game is worth spending their money for and that they are happy that people will feel that the game is of great value.
Shooters video game in the first person genre has become a notorious part of the industry due to its short campaigns. Some of the video games released in the shooters genre have only 10 hours running time such as the Call of Duty franchise compared to the 58 hours in the Borderlands II. Borderland’s nature allowed Gearbox Software to extend the running time of the video game with quirky activities and quests that are designed to provide gamers with extra mile, meaning you can get more loot. Nevertheless, the video game boasts content abundance for a modern and big blockbuster release.
What is more impressive regarding the running time is that the entire gameplay of Borderland II will be oriented on the PvE, with Gearbox Software electing to exclude the previous PvP element of the games simply because of the unpopularity of the element.
When asked about why the Arena mode is not included in the game, Steve imparts that the reason behind the initiative is that it was not used that much, so the company has invested more on the cooperative mode of the game and that Badass Ranking technology is some kind of measuring stick for gamers to know how they are doing in the video game. The system also allocates gamers with tokens when they accomplished feats in the video game. These tokens are then used by gamers to increase the fire rate, damage, special abilities as well as other buffs of their characters.
Borderlands II is going to be launched for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 21, 2012.
