Not on this game. The Wii has an online system like the DS does. It can connect online, but all online gameplay capabilities are held within the actual game itself. If the game supports online play and the company who released it has running servers for it, then it can play online.
The best examples for online play are Onslaught and Super Smash Bros Brawl. Mario Kart Wii is also okay for online play, but I found it to be lacking.
