Jessica Nigri
Jessica Nigri has stirred some controversy during the second day of PAX East convention. Ms. Nigri was asked to depart from the show due to her outfit for the portrayal of Juliet Starling’s character, the protagonist at the forthcoming Lollipop Chainsaw video game. Jessica Nigri has won the contest where she will portray the main character of the game, and she has been representing Juliet Starling for a long time after her victory. Nigri has already attended several events where she was dressed up like Juliet, but at the PAX East convention, she came out with her outfit that really turned the heads of many people at the event. The problem there is that many children are present at the PAX east convention. No doubt, those children were among those attendees who had been curious about the outfit of Nigri and they could not take their eyes off the scantily dressed costume player.
Ms. Nigri was not actually dismisses at the show right away. The organizers have asked her to change her attire which she actually did and put on the high school cheerleader outfit that the character of Juliet Starling is dressed up at the Lollipop Chainsaw video game. The attire is the standard outfit of a sexy cheerleader which is composed of a low cut dress and a very short skirt. But the PAX East crew was not satisfied o Jessica’s change of outfit. Nigri was again asked to change her outfit into a more conservative way especially the top for the children’s sake. Ms. Nigri has left the convention on the second day.
The initiative of PAX East to ask Jessica Nigri to change her attire or to leave is the right thing to do. It only means that PAX East is children and family friendly and they are responsible not to engage children with such revealing outfits at their age. The move is not a popular one but still, many of the attendees agree with it. It is a known fact than many costume players wear revealing outfits at conventions, but it is different when you are dealing with exhibitors. The convention organized by PAX East is very different from those organized by E3 where the entire venue of their convention is off limits to children who are under 18 years old. E3 conventions are also locked down and they allow legally age individuals but still under the guidance of an adult.
It is the way of Penny Arcade of working very hard to create an atmosphere which is children and family friendly. Even though the initiative is not a popular move to take, it is still a well respective initiative that many parents will admire. It will be instilled in their minds that conventions of Penny Arcade are wholesome and even if they do not go with their children, they will be sure that their children are in good hands. Many of the attendees are comfortable about it and that they can simply attend a convention where they are not bothered with scantily-clad pretty girls with stimulating outfits.
