Halo 4 – Master Chief
There are a lot of speculations regarding the Halo 4 but 343 Industries is too discreet about this new installment, although there are few hints that the gaming community will pick on. In this new installment, Master Chief will return in other form in order to battle the Covenant which is now not as strong and powerful as they were after the universe was ravaged by war for years.
The Covenant are now weak and scattered throughout the universe and considered as a mild distractor. They are now only reminder of the origin of Halo but the real danger that John-117 will face is much interesting.
The Halo 4 will be connected to the wider fiction of Halo according to Frank O’Connor, Franchise director of the video game. With the Forerunner Trilogy of Bear Greg currently doing the rounds, is there any possibility that the decade old species will return in this installment? A very interesting idea but the books are more absorbed in the society of Forerunner which are shown as a group of enlightened ones who are not into conflict. But don’t forget the Precursors which are older species and studied the Forerunners just like what the Covenant and the humans did. Could these speculations be true and considered are threat that 343 hints at?
Master Chief was rudely awakened last year as his ship spun towards a big new threat. But it was revealed that Bungie will not be included in the Halo 4. This installment is not just a sequel but a reimagining, restarting and is also considered as the chance for this series to create new grounds as well as bringing players closer to the character that has characterized modern gaming. Establishing a new threat for Master Chief is a difficult task for 343, and it shows the Forerunners could be the one that will replace the Covenant. It is known that Bungie and 343 has endured in order to expand Halo intelligently into new media but in this Halo installment, the bigger picture is now beginning to have its sense.
Halo 4 has taken a step forward due to the presence of traditional action, emotion, character and drama which were previously limited in the trilogy of Bungie. John-117 will no longer be an empty ship with the Mjolnir armor and much practical feel and look. The armor of Master Chief has also undertaken some grittier approach making him bulkier making him feel more vulnerable and more human. This new look is convincing way of telling that a human is encased inside the armor. Halo 4 is considered by 343 as a reboot in order to reignite the halo franchise for gamers but it is still evident as the continuation of Bungie’s creation.
But 343 is quiet about the direction of the single player feature of Halo 4 but the multiplayer aspect as changed. This new installment provides a lot of excitement that other players should anticipate.
It is still unknown how Halo 4 will impact on the gaming world which is very focused on the Call of Duty video game. But one thing is good about this new installment which is the return of Master Chief.
