Uncharted III of Naughty Dog is considered as among those critically acclaimed video games during the past year. Though Uncharted III: Drake’s Deception has blown lots of gamers when it comes to characters, graphics, its technical aspect and storytelling, there are still three major drawbacks in the game.
Plot Holes
When playing video games, gamers need to suspend their disbelief in order for them to enjoy the title. Gamers who want those treasure simulators, them this video game is not for them. Lots of players out there love crazy stuff and explosion in video games, but this third installment from the Uncharted series really pushed them too far. For instance, after Drake was washed out towards the sea, the screen turns black and then Nate wakes on the beach literally saying “How convenient.” There is no necessary explanation for that. Well, apparently. If that actually happened, then Drake is probably dead, but the developer doesn’t have an excuse for this so they left the scenario out.
Another plot hole that you will see in the game was in Historical Research in chapter 10. You will see that after instigating a market brawl, Sully, Elena and Nate fled and they came exactly at the room which has no sense at all for the game. While gamers understand that there is no need to devote time in order to find the door, at least Naughty Dog should explain how it happened.
Underused Characters
Lots of gamers out there have surely noticed this drawback in this third installment of the series. Elena and Chloe have popped up in the game, but the role of Elena was so important. Chloe seems to disappear and not mentioned anymore for the entire game. And who is this Charlie Cutter? Somehow this character suddenly appeared as the lifelong pal of Nate. The characters in the video game are the reasons why this video game was so good for lots of gamers and it is not appealing for Naughty Dog to create story that centers only to Nate. There is also no explanation about the relationship of Marlowe and Talbot which are two important characters in the video game.
Poor Marketing
The marketing of Uncharted 3 is somewhat poor which lots of people were not expecting to happen. Every trailer of the video game is somewhat responsible on spoiling the game itself. Consider the four largest set pieces in the video game which include the plane, Nate gets lost at Rub Al Kali, cruise ship and the chateau which are revealed on the game’s marketing period. In fact, every set piece has available video walkthroughs before its launching which leave only filler contents for gamers to discover. Although the filler content is excellent, it seems that gamers have already know all the fantastic things that the title has to offer even before they got to the store to purchase the video game. The desert set piece in the worst in the video game as it bared where the journey Nate would lead him without the element of mystery.
